Somali and Kenyan FMs hold bilateral talks in Nairobi ahead of Farmajo trip

On March 11, 2020, The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Issa Awad, held bilateral talks with Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade H.E. Amb. Raychalle Omamo.

The meeting focused on several important issues, including enhancing cooperation between the two countries and ways to further boost cooperation in various areas.

The meeting which was also attended by the Somali ambassador to Kenya, Mohamud Ahmed Nur Tarsan and Kenya’s Foreign Affairs permanent secretary ambassador Macharia Kamau affirmed the continuous eagerness to reduce tension to enhance and develop aspects of joint cooperation in all fields.

The meeting follows after a telephone conversation between His Excellency President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his Kenyan Counterpart His Excellency Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta on March 5.

Foreign affairs officials from both neighboring countries are planning an official visit by President Farmajo to Nairobi in forthcoming days following an invitation by his counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta delivered by Interior Minister, Fred Matiangi during a visit to Mogadishu last Sunday.
