Jubbaland Now Wants Turkey And Qatar To Stop Funding Somalia National Army

Jubbaland administration led by the state President Ahmed Madobe has called on Turkey and Qatar to halt funding and training of Somali troops following the escalating political squabbles between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
Federal Government of Somalia has been at loggerheads with some of the Federal Member States including Somaliland and Jubbaland States. Following the undermining and failing to recognize these semi-autonomous states by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s administration, there has been unprecedented rebellion from the Federal States most notable, Madobe’s-led Jubbaland administration.
Jubbaland called on Ankara and Doha to stop funding the Federal Government saying Mogadishu has ulterior motives against Federal Member States. Madobe claimed that Qatar should stop funding Farmajo’s administration further saying Mogadishu is using these finances to harm Somalia contrary to existing international laws of cooperation.
Ankara on the other hand was urged to cancel funds towards Somali National Army (SNA) and stop training Somali troops following the recent deployment of over 700 Turkish-trained SNA troops in Gedo.
Madobe made these calls when opening Parliament in Kismayo. His calls were similar to those of Wadajir party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, who also urged Turkey to withdraw from funding SNA since they are used to “fight Federal Member States instead of Al-Shabaab”.
