Somali National Army forces in Lower Shabelle have seized control of their weapons from al-Shabaab militants.
The troops are said to be part of the al-Shabaab group that serves to target the Shabelle River’s rivers in Janaale, Awdheegle and Degwarir neighborhoods, in order to attack the country’s armed forces.
The boats are said to continue operations against the soldiers, which they said will continue to carry out al-Shabaab operations to continue their attacks.
On the other hand, the troops said they have resisted the attacks by Al-Shabaab against their troops in Awdheegle, while causing casualties.
National army commander Abdirahman Mohamed Dirir said they killed al-Shabaab fighters.
He added that he also included the action squad that removed the weapons they were carrying, saying that they would be exposed to the damage they inflicted on al-Shabaab.
